This is a museum-grade replica of the Museum of London Roman eagle clutching a snake in its beak, the original of which was discovered in 2013 by archaeologists during excavations near the Minories in the City of London.
The original sculpture once stood on a Roman mausoleum in the eastern cemetery of ancient Londinium and dates to the 1st or 2nd century A.D. It is widely considered one of the finest Romano-British sculptures ever unearthed.
This is made of reconstituted limestone cast over a solid and very heavy stone, mortar, and limestone core. It has a felt bottom to prevent marring.
This replica stands 180 mm tall and weighs slightly more than a kilogram (roughly 2.3 lbs).
Made in the USA.
