Minories Eagle Hero

The London Minories Eagle

This is a hand-shaped replica of the Museum of London Roman eagle clutching a snake in its beak. The original was discovered in 2013 by archaeologists during excavations near the Minories in the City of London.

The original sculpture once stood on a high-status Roman mausoleum in the eastern cemetery of ancient Londinium and dates to the 1st or 2nd century A.D. It is widely considered one of the finest Romano-British sculptures ever unearthed.

Materials and Craftsmanship

I made this out of reconstituted limestone cast over a solid and very heavy stone, mortar, and limestone core. It has a felt bottom so it won’t scratch a tabletop or desk.

My replica stands 180 mm tall (just over 7 inches) and weighs slightly more than a kilogram (roughly 2.3 lbs). Made in the USA.
