The False Grail

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

This is a heavy, full-size cup with real glass cabochons in the exact color, shape and size as used on screen. I shaped this by hand. It is waterproof. Sourcing the glass cabochons in the exact shape shape and size was difficult, and took me the better part of two months to find them. But I ultimately tracked them down overseas.

This is, in my judgement, the most beautiful of the false grails depicted in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It sits directly next to the true grail, the cup of the carpenter, untouched throughout the film.

This is a heavy prop. See the photo with the scale--you can't really tell the difference in weight between this and a full Coke can. It has a metal core throughout both the handle and the cup, so it has the proper balance in your hand. It is waterproof, so you can drink from it if you're so inclined, and have no problem tempting fate.

I was always fascinated by this cup in the film, even from a young age. I've never seen anything like it in the real world.
